Energy Star is a collaborated effort between the US Department of Energy,
the US Environmental Protection Agency, and businesses who use this label to
insure environmental protection and economical benefits. However, in order
to qualify for the Energy Star label, our light bulbs must first exceed existing government standards.
Our compact fluorescent lights (CFL's) are, by design, environmentally "clean." They require much less energy, so that if every US household were
to replace one standard incandescent bulb with an Energy Star labeled
CFL, the pollution prevented would be the same as eliminating the greenhouse
gases given off by one million cars. Energy Star CFL's also last much longer than standard halogen light bulbs, and burn at a much lower
temperature, making them safer than halogen light bulbs.
Our cooperative efforts with Energy Star insure that we're helping consumers save money, as well as making a real difference in the protection
of our environment.
